In a nutshell:
Intimate and romantic boutique hotel with gourmet all-inclusive plan and adults-only policy. Tranquil, elegant and refined. Beach club is a short shuttle ride away, the marina is within walking distance, and Puerto Vallarta’s malecon and old town are a short cab ride away.

The luxury of Casa Velas Hotel Boutique might be a surprise to many. Hidden away just back from the ocean, the tranquillity and intimacy of the property together with the superb facilities make this a welcome change from the high rise hotel zone.

The Casa Velas Hotel Boutique is a luxury all-inclusive property with an excellent restaurant. All meals are served a la carte. Guest also have the option of eating at the hotel’s private beachclub or at the restaurants at the nearby Velas Vallarta.

The private Beach Club, has an infinity pool, restaurant and air-conditioned TV lounge. Shuttle service is provided to the Club, but it’s within walking distance along mostly flat terrain. Stay in one of the big “beachfront” all-inclusive resorts and you might have to walk just as far to the ocean.

For golf lovers, the advantages of its location directly between the 1st and 18th holes of one of the area’s finest courses are undeniable. Sport lovers will also appreciate the well equipped fitness center, tennis and volleyball courts.

For a romantic break, leave the golf clubs behind and take a look at some of the indulgent suites on offer.  We particularly recommend the wonderful Grand Class suites with their double sized Jacuzzi tubs or plunge pools and beautifully furnished sitting areas, or the spacious Royal suites which have both a plunge pool and a Jacuzzi.

We recommend the Casa Velas Hotel Boutique to those looking for elegant and distinctive accommodations away from the crowds.

Rooms

The elegant main building, with its cool white walls and beautiful furnishings reminiscent of a private villa, houses most of the resort’s Master Suites and Grand Class Suites. Royal suites are arranged in the opulent two story hacienda style units that are surrounded by lush gardens (shown above). The ambiance is tranquil and sophisticated, far different from the party games and loud music of the big high rise hotels in town.

On our first visit to the hotel we were amazed at the spaciousness and luxurious amenities of these rooms, particularly the impressive Grand Class and Royal suites with their sumptuous sitting areas featuring comfortable sofas or chaises longues.

Master suites have a conventional layout but we rate them as far superior to most of Puerto Vallarta’s luxury hotel rooms due to their quality furnishings and amenities – particularly the lovely marble bathrooms with their gilt trimmings and delicate lighting.

Many rooms also feature ornamental masks designed exclusively for the hotel by the renowned local artist Sergio Bustamante. You’ll also find ample wardrobe space, plenty of mirrors, and patio doors facing the tropical gardens.

All the rooms have individually controlled air-conditioning, ceiling fans, satellite TV with remote control, direct dial telephone, luxury bathrobes and twice daily maid service.

Grand Class suites are particularly recommended for their additional features. These stunning accommodations often have a split level, with vast bedroom and living spaces and one or two balconies or terraces. In addition, these suites have a private plunge pool on the terrace, and Grand Class Plus suites also have a Jacuzzi bathroom. They overlook the golf course or the gardens, or both.

The Royal Suites nestle in the manicured gardens of the Casa Velas Hotel Boutique, and are the only accommodations to have a separate sitting room. Each of these suites boasts a plunge pool and Jacuzzi, terrace or patio. The high quality furnishings make these accommodations an extremely comfortable and stylish choice for short or long stays.

These delightful, sunny rooms are beautifully furnished and decorated with highlights of of warm yellow. Each room at the hotel is different, so it’s difficult to categorize the types of suite; there are different sizes and shapes in each group. The Master Suites, although the lowest category at the property, are spacious and welcoming, with luxury amenities.

Master Suites can have either one king or two double beds and, while cribs can be provided, this property does not supply rollaway beds.

Are you bored of the mundane bathrooms in many large hotels? The newly refitted bathrooms in all the suites at Casa Velas Hotel Boutique are guaranteed to please, with their large tubs, frilly curtains and huge mirrors. A hair dryer, shaving mirror and bathroom scales are also provided, as well as a good selection of luxury toiletries.

The Master Suites Plus differ from the regular Master Suites in that they have a bathroom with a Jacuzzi tub. They can have either one king or two double beds.  Many rooms have a display of quirky masks by Sergio Bustamente, a local artist whose unusual works are instantly recognizable and memorable.

The indulgent bathrooms feature an oval shaped Jacuzzi tub that often has views over the gardens of the hotel. There is also a shower, and an attractive vanity area with good lighting and mirrors.

Grand Class Suites have a pleasant sitting area, usually in a split level arrangement with the sleeping area. They offer ample space for relaxation or even working (a writing desk and two line telephone system are featured in all the rooms).  They can have one king or two double beds.

Grand Class Suites all have a private plunge pool. The plunge pools are either on the ground floor – surrounded by lawned gardens, or on the terrace of upper floor rooms. They are perfect for cooling off after a day in town or on the beach.

Grand Class Plus Suites are similar to the regular Grand Class Suites but they have an additional Jacuzzi tub. All the rooms are different and have much more character than a homogenized room in a mega hotel. This one has a comfortable sofa, and the split level arrangement means that you can see the TV from both the bed and the sofa.

This room is on the ground floor and its plunge pool has a garden setting. Shrubs and trees provide some privacy and a little shade.

In our opinion these are the most luxurious of the accommodations at the resort. Exceptionally spacious and beautifully furnished, these suites are ideal for two people but could also accommodate a family with two children.

They have a duplex arrangement with a living area downstairs, featuring a double sofa bed and two armchairs and often a dining area to seat four people.  There’s a cloakroom and shower downstairs too (the main bathroom is upstairs). The large sitting room opens out onto a delightful sun terrace with a plunge pool.

The bedroom has high, beamed ceilings and plenty of windows to allow the tropical sunshine into the room.  The views are of the gardens and the golf course surrounding the property, and these views can also be enjoyed from the secluded sun terrace that’s accessible from the bathroom.

restaurant

You will find it hard to believe that you are in an all-inclusive hotel; the quality of food and level of service is amazing. All meals are served a la carte and guests have several restaurants to choose from.

It’s always a pleasure to dine in the hotel’s delightful restaurant Emiliano. The airy room is arranged in tiers so that all the tables have great views over the patios and swimming pool.  At night thousands of fairy lights twinkle in the palm trees, and the gardens and pool are skillfully lit to create a magical setting.

For breakfast, we often choose to dine alfresco on the terrace. It’s a more casual setting though the service is still of the same high standard.  Here we catch the light breezes and watch the activity in the pool and golf course, while perusing an equally extensive menu selection. Warm bread and sweet rolls are served with American breakfasts, and there’s a wide range of omelets including shrimp and spinach or pumpkin flower and huitlacoche.

At lunch time we enjoy eating at the beach club to the sounds of the ocean. The quesadillas and molletes are delicious.

If you are able to tear yourself away from the hotel’s restaurants, you do have the option of eating at two of the restaurants at the Casa Velas’ larger sister hotel, Velas Vallarta.

pool

This incredibly inviting freeform pool stretches the width of the hotel and includes islands, built-in sun loungers and a palapa-topped swim-up bar. For those who don’t want to get their feet wet, bar service is provided on the patios too.

With only the hotel, golf course and gardens in proximity, it’s a peaceful spot to spend the day. Relax in the elegant surroundings, enjoy the attentive service and revel in the knowledge that you’re a safe distance from the crowds.

beach club

The Casa Velas Hotel Boutique’ beach club is located on a sandy beach next to the Marriott. It’s within walking distance of the hotel or just a short drive away.  It’s a private club for hotel guests only, and features an infinity pool, a restaurant and a bar. The two story club building has an air-conditioned upper floor with a giant TV screen, bar service and balcony overlooking the ocean. The Beach Club also offers showers and changing rooms.

The enticing swimming pool overlooks the Bay of Banderas and the Sierra Madre mountain range.  It features two vigorous Jacuzzis, a shallow relaxing area and a deeper section for swimming. Hardwood loungers surround the pool and gazebos provide a shady resting place.  Towel service is offered throughout the day, and beverages and snacks are available too.

The air-conditioned lounge on the second floor of the Beach Club has a large screen television so that you can catch up with the news or watch the big match without leaving the beach.  The lounge can also be converted to a function room for weddings or meetings. It has a spectacular terrace facing the ocean that is ideal for a romantic ceremony.

golf

The Casa Velas Hotel Boutique is ideally situated right next to the prestigious Marina Vallarta Golf Club. Joe Finger designed this Par 71, 6,700 yard, 18 hole championship course with a tropical feel – lakes, ponds and lagoons are featured around the course and eleven of the holes involve water.

Special privileges are granted to guests at the hotel, and the hotel itself offers a range of facilities and complimentary services geared towards the golfer. Golf lessons are available.

Wonderful views of the course are gained from many of the guest rooms at the Casa Velas Hotel Boutique, and also from the patios around the freeform swimming pool.

Golf at Casa Velas Hotel Boutique generally includes:

  • Preferential green fee including golf cart and caddy service
  • Unlimited golf bag storage at no cost
  • Tee time reservations made and confirmed by concierge staff
  • Quality rental clubs
  • Full service pro-shop
  • Fleet of 75 Yamaha electric carts
