The two striking swimming pools are located on the top floor terrace of the hotel; close to the bar and lounge area.

These highly unusual pools are constructed from two industrial oil containers. From here guests can enjoy a spectacular view of Playa del Carmen town and the beach and ocean.

Drinks are available throughout the day and there's a good selection of comfy chairs hammocks and day beds for guests to relax in.

The hotel also provides guests with complimentary membership to Las Mamitas Beach Club, located on Calle 28, where there are beach beds, parasols and a food and drink service.

The Terrace is the place to hang out both during the day and at night. In the day guests can enjoy the large shady day beds, or grab a hammock (there are plenty) or one of the comfortable chairs all offering shelter from the sun. The two pools are close by for those looking to cool down.

In the evenings the atmosphere is transformed. Like its sister hotel Deseo, the roof-top terrace offers a live DJ. While Deseo's music is more international, at Basico it's strictly Latin so if you know your cumbia from your banda then you'll be right at home.

Once things get warmed up the atmosphere is excellent; they have old black and white movies flickering in the background for that retro feel, and you get to party while enjoying some wonderful views of Playa del Carmen.
