Thank you so much for helping with our travel plans to Ceiba del Mar.  We had a fantastic time.  The resort is absolutely gorgeous.  Our first night there was magical - a full moon reflected on the infinity pool, the swaying palm trees, the palapas, and the beautiful ocean - it was spectacular.    The staff was by far the best I have experienced anywhere - they were as professional and friendly to me as they were to my teenagers.  I have to tell you - one afternoon I started to lie down on a chaise lounge and before my head could even touch the back rest, a member of the staff placed a pillow there for my comfort.  We also delighted in several massages ocean side.   Our rooms were very spacious and comfortable.  I particularly liked having two separate bathrooms in our suite, and we were on the ground floor, so we could just walk right out to the pools.  The only drawback to the lower level room (but an unavoidable one) was a relatively heavy mildew smell, which we eventually grew accustomed to.  (Please know the hotel was willing to move us, but we decided we preferred having the luxury of the ground floor walkout.)   The grounds at the resort were immaculate and beautiful. The food was good; some was a bit unusual for my tastes, but my son couldn't eat enough California rolls!   I think another piece of luck we had was that much of the regular spring break crowd had already come and gone, so there were relatively few people there.  The resort, therefore, was peaceful - and we received lots of attention.   As if you couldn't tell after this long-winded dissertation, we enjoyed Ceiba del Mar immensely and are already making plans to go back.  By the way, what is it like there between say December 27 and January 6?   Many thanks again for a memorable vacation.

Ceiba was well run with a lot of staff and although there were some hiccups when we arrived they sorted them out efficiently and the manager was wonderful.  The mistake over the bill shouldn't have happened (I would have caught up with it eventually when I went through my receipts) but their billing system is so complicated (and we left on the same day as many other guests) I can understand why!   Thank you for keeping an eye on our interests and I shall look for the credit within the next month and let you know if it doesn't appear.  It was expensive - so much so that we went on the meal plan  - but probably not more so than similar hotels on the coast over Christmas - and I do think that Ceiba was nicer than a lot of others we walked past on that coastline.  The rooms were lovely, grounds and facilities clean, groomed and well cared for and the staff very friendly and the Spa staff were great - I would definitely recommend it to others.  Generally the food wasn't great - it was just OK - they could use a really good chef there - and the New Year's dinner was simply awful almost hysterically so ........ but the setting lovely!

We had a great time at Ceiba del Mar and would certainly recommend it to others.  Beautiful place, comfortable and very friendly staff in a relaxing setting, i.e. just what we were looking for in a 4-day getaway.  The food is very good although, admittedly, we also went out to local joints quite a bit, as is our wont.  Still, the food is excellent and well above typical hotel fare.  Also, the pool/beach service is outstanding.  Always someone ready to take an order or set up a lounge.  Room service also excellent and rooms well maintained/cleaned (nice towel sculptures on the bed).  Last but not least, great spa.  Had many treatments and all were excellent.  Spa staff are very professional and well trained.  Great addition to the resort.

My one and only complaint is that the continental breakfast isn't always delivered at the appointed time.  We were asked to fill out room service cards and place them on our doorknob at night so that the complimentary breakfast could be delivered at the requested time the following morning.  One evening we put 6:15 AM, which was one of the options on the card (it's a checklist), hoping to have a quick cup of coffee before an early morning "sunrise" stroll on the beach.  The breakfast didn't arrive so we went on the stroll and when we came back, the breakfast arrived at about 7:30.  We thought perhaps that they misread the card (everyone makes mistakes) but then it happened a second time (breakfast was delivered at 8:00 despite having checked 7:00 on the card) so we concluded that breakfast would be delivered according to their schedules rather than what we requested.  Anyway, this was only a minor inconvenience since, as noted, we enjoyed our stay so thoroughly but, having stayed in many fine hotels around the world, this is the stuff that separates a four-star from a five-star hotel.  I'm not suggesting the Ceiba del Mar is trying to be a true 5-star hotel, but if they're going to offer a service, they should provide it as offered.
