the concierge

Dolphin Cove's friendly and helpful concierge is Cynthia Espinoza. For one of Differentworld.com's newsletters, the concierge described the activities that guests can enjoy in the fall:

Welcome to Manzanillo!

Fall is a wonderful time to visit Manzanillo. There might be a few summer rains that linger on into October, but these usually occur in the late afternoon or at night. By November the dry season begins and the weather is normally delightful throughout the winter and spring. Some of my favorite suggestions for things to do during the fall are the following:

Fishing

Manzanillo is known as the Sailfish Capital of the World. The peak season runs from November to March with an international fishing tournament starting off the festivities in November. Not only sailfish, but giant tuna, dorado, sea bass, snapper and yellow tail roam the nearby waters. I can arrange for a boat to pick you up at the Las Hadas dock, which is just a short walk from Dolphin Cove Inn.

Eco Tours

If you are interested in nature, Manzanillo is fantastic. One of the most outstanding adventures is to board a panga (a small motor boat) that plies the nearby Cuyutlan Lagoon. As the boat meanders through the quiet waters, you discover a natural paradise. The lagoon tour begins at the Cuyutlan Turtle Sanctuary which protects turtle eggs from predators. When the newly hatched babies are strong enough, they are returned to their natural habitat in the ocean. On certain days of the week during October and November, visitors to the turtle sanctuary can participate in the conservation project of releasing the little turtles back into the ocean.

Golf

Fall is a prime time of the year for golf. There are many excellent courses in the nearby area, including the Las Hadas 18-hole championship course (designed by Pete & Roy Dye) which is within walking distance of Dolphin Cove Inn. I can assist you with tee times.

Please stop by my desk in the lobby. I will be delighted to help you with sightseeing tours, golf times, restaurant reservations, taxis, transfers, or any questions you might have.
