Taxis from the airport

The closest airport is Mérida, about 60 miles away and the journey by car takes about 90 minutes to 2 hours. See "Getting to Merida" for further information. A private taxi to the hotel or to Celestún (the hotel will pick up guests with confirmed reservations at Celestún free of charge) will cost around US$70.

From Mérida, drive south of the city towards Uman and make a right turn at the first corner of the plaza there (before the church) to take road 281 to Kinchil-Celestún.

From Uman to Kinchil and on to Celestún you will pass picturesque Mayan villages and travel on quiet but good conditioned roads.

In Celestún, pass the main plaza and turn right at the seafront, following the coastal road for a distance of around 6 miles. The road between Celestún and the resort is unpaved, but is in reasonable condition and a 4 wheel drive vehicle, though recommended, is not essential.
