In summer, when Alamos basks in temperatures around 90ºF, the enticing swimming pools provide daytime distraction. There are on average 360 days of sunshine per year, so there's never a bad time to visit - the cooler winter temperatures are just an excuse to relax by the open fires.
Whatever the season, as dusk falls the Hacienda is transformed into a paradise of candlelit elegance and the silence is lifted by the enchanting harmonies of the Estudiantina performing traditional love songs on the restaurant terraces.
Alamos itself is a colonial town of great character with a history of silver mining, revolution and ghosts. There are a number of colorful fiestas and plenty of natural and cultural attractions - excursions available include river trips to Mayo Indian villages, bird watching and tropical forest tours.
The proximity to the incredible Copper Canyon, home to one of the world's most scenic railroad journeys, also makes Hacienda de los Santos an obvious choice for a vacation combining sightseeing and pampering.
