our opinion

Each of the twelve guest suites at Hacienda Uayamon has a role in the history of the hacienda; the ten Colonial Villas were originally the houses of the highest ranking employees and the two suites are housed in the former hospital. It's no surprise then that guests at the hotel can feel the spirit of times gone by in the sumptuous quarters, despite the addition of remote controlled air-conditioning and satellite TV.

The fact that some of the structures have been left in ruins only serves to fuel the imagination further. Evenings at Hacienda Uayamon, when the pathways and the steps to each Colonial Villa or Suite are lit by candles, are pure magic.

The hacienda is a perfect location for a secluded and intimate honeymoon, but is also an excellent base for sightseeing.
Campeche state has many treasures and is far enough from the tourist trail to offer rewards to even the most adventurous of travelers. From seafood dinners in the walled city of Campeche to the mysterious Mayan burial grounds on the island of Jaina, this is an area well worth exploring.

Some of the most remote and intriguing Mayan ruins such as Calakmul and Xpuhil can be visited on a day tour from Hacienda Uayamon and excellent guides are available.
