New visitors to the Hotelito are frequently amazed by the gastronomic delights that are produced daily in this remote hideaway. A magical setting complements each meal - dinner by candlelight on the waterside terrace with a careful selection of music drifting out to the ocean (on a sunny day there's just enough solar electricity to power the restaurant's CD player). Lunch by the beach, within earshot of the ocean and stumbling distance from a palapa-shaded beach chair. Breakfast on the terrace again, this time in the warmth of the morning sun and with the sea breezes for refreshment.

The quality of the food is the result of the owner's philosophy that, as there isn't really anywhere else to eat in the area, the food offered had better be one of the highlights of the resort. And so it is.

Our first evening meal at the resort included delicious fresh lobster but was marginally surpassed the second evening by a tender steak served Mexican style with guacamole and salsa - the guacamole being amongst the best we've experienced. Even the plain-looking pineapple cake served after a large lunch was seductively moist and irresistible.

Rise and shine with a mug of hot coffee delivered to your palafito on demand - just raise the red flag for prompt service. Then make your way to El Cantarito, the waterside restaurant, for a leisurely breakfast any time between eight and eleven.

You'll find an enticing selection of fresh fruits, juices, breads, cereals and yogurts in the breakfast buffet. Afterwards, a waiter will ask for your choice of hot dishes including some tasty Mexican specialties.

lunch

Lunch is served al fresco at the Nopalito beach restaurant. In true Mexican style, this is a four course extravaganza, though you can cut it short if you prefer.

We'd like to offer a helpful hint for first time visitors - the expansive buffet of salads, meats and cheeses is just an appetizer. And the desserts are delicious...

dinner

Romance is always on the menu in the candlelit restaurant. Arrive early to sample the local tequila, or relax on the jetty with perfectly made margaritas.

As darkness falls, take your tables for the evening meal. Mingle with fellow guests or choose an intimate table for two. Then relax and enjoy the evenings selection.
