La Via Laktea is a collection of eight large and spacious rooms, located at the tranquil southern end of Tulum close to the Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve. For those looking for a more active vacation there is snokeling and diving close by and the many attractions of the Biosphere Reserve including kayaking and nature trails.

The hotel is quite remote with its location quite south on the Boca Paila Road. The hotel has a small restaurant which opens just for breakfast. Breakfast is prepared from ingredients bought freshly and locally each morning and includes: seasonal fruit, yogurt, granola and coffee. There is an additional charge for breakfast. There are several restaurants within walking distance of the hotel for lunch and dinner

The four circular 2-story buildings are topped with a traditional palapa roof. They are separated by sand and tall palms. Interiors are simple with furniture from local craftsmen and Mexican artwork. This is an understated but stylish beach hideaway.
