| We had a fabulous time on our Baja trip. I've completed the grid with our ratings on a 1 to 5 scale, and yes, the various "6" ratings we gave to Las Ventanas on that scale were intentional! ;-) What a fabulous facility LV is, and neither of us had previously experienced its equal. What can one say? Professionalism and courtesy the like of which we'd never experienced. Aside from the prices (which are not worth complaining over, as they were known and accepted in advance), that little slice of heaven is fairly flawless. Some highlights: Our rental car (picked up at the hotel) was totally handled by the valet, who insisted he would take care of it and that we should go in and enjoy our stay (he later phoned just to confirm that the car checked out with no problem). We then discovered that we had received an unrequested and unexpected upgrade from a garden view room to an ocean-facing bedroom suite -- complete with fully stocked kichen, espresso maker, oven, stove, fridge --, dining room, living room, bright and beautiful bedroom, two dressing areas/sink/vanity areas, fabulous marble shower. Unbelievably luxurious. A welcome tequila with the requisite trimmings and a gourmet dried fruit and nut mix was a great touch. The last night, our A/C went out, so after many unnecessary apologies, we were escorted to the Penthouse suite just upstairs. Wow ... The Sea Grill actually served better fish than the overpriced The Restaurant (although the ambience/view/service of The Restaurant made it highly romantic and memorable). After ordering dessert, our waiter actually escorted us to a large, high-powered telescope (operated by his brother) to view the stars and planets while we waited for the dessert. How many can say they saw Jupiter while they waited for their coconut sorbet? The tequila and ceviche bar (fabulous) converts to a sushi bar at 4:00 (even MORE fabulous). We chatted with all the staff and felt like we got to know several of them. The other patrons were also friendly and from a wide variety of places (Switzerland, Colombia, Cuba). It was very uncrowded, which added to the luxurious feel. The spa services were exceptionally well done. One week later, I'm still relaxed and my manicure hasn't even chipped. ;-) D.
