El Viejo Gaucho, the Mansion Iturbe's
evening restaurant, is a very welcome retreat in sleepy
Patzcuaro. It is generally open on Thursday, Friday and
Saturday nights and hotel guests receive complimentary
cover for one night.
The highlight is the live music which starts at around 8:30pm and continues until around midnight (it can't be heard in the hotel rooms). But we also love to visit for the unusual South American themed menu which is just perfect for a long, relaxing evening.

Argentinean steaks, a multitude of
different pizzas in large and small sizes and various
snack sized dishes make great accompaniments to the wide
range of beers and wines (the latter available by the
bottle or glass and at very reasonable prices). There are
even 'packages' of food and drink that are great for
sharing.
If you want a quiet meal you can sit in another room away from the stage. Ask for the delicious hot chocolate and you can watch the staff prepare it - the aroma is unforgettable.
