dining
Vista Ballenas is the Marquis' main restaurant and
features a large open-air terrace where guests can dine
under the sun or stars. Tables are also available in the
air-conditioned interior, but nothing beats the wide
open ocean views from the terrace.
The menu is a mix of Californian and Mexican cuisine and the restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
For more casual dining, the Dos Mares Restaurant serves lunch at poolside tables, and drinks and snacks direct to your sun chair.
For an evening to remember, reserve a table at the
intimate Canto del Mar restaurant at the Marquis.
Incredibly, this restaurant seats just 22 people and
offers a semi-fixed, seven course menu prepared by chef
Thierry Dafour, who has worked in Michelin starred
restaurants in France.
No printed menus are prepared but you can check the selections of the day at reception (there is generally a set entree with choices for only some of the other courses, so it's not suitable for those with restricted diets).
The bar El Suspiro is a popular and lively location from early evening onwards. Guests gather here to watch the latest sports news or to sip a tropical cocktail whilst watching the sun set.
