The gorgeous soft white sand beach stretches for miles south of the hotel.

It's possible to walk along the beach almost as far as the ruins of Tulum (the ruins are not accessible from the beach, but you can cut through to the road and walk to the entrance of the archaeological site in about 20 minutes).

Along the way are a few small hotels and restaurants and a scattering of fishing boats.

The hotel is slightly elevated from the beach and guests must walk down a short flight of steps to reach the sand.

There are a few rocks in the waterline at the foot of the steps, but just a few yards further down the coast the ocean bed is blissfully soft and rock-free, perfect for wading and swimming.
