We often find difficulty recommending hotels in beach resorts because few accommodations have any degree of character. Mosquito Blue is different; we love the luxuriously stylish rooms, the two fabulous pools, the superb restaurant and the exciting new spa.

To find these facilities in an intimate and stylish property in the heart of Playa del Carmen is particularly exciting.

Although Mosquito Blue is not directly on the beach, we think the location is hard to beat. The town beach is only a two minute walk away and guests also have access to the stylish new beach club of sister hotel Mosquito Beach.

The proximity to some of Playa del Carmen's best bars and restaurants on lively Avenida 5 (Fifth Avenue) means that the hotel can be noisy, but the Mosquito Blue has sensibly retained an "adults only" policy and most of the guests are here to enjoy the nightlife. This hotel is not recommended for a sleepy beach vacation!

Check out the rates for Deluxe Rooms and Junior Suites at Mosquito Blue; though we love all the rooms here we'd particularly recommend upgrading. For a small additional price you'll get more space and some delightful furnishings.

Please note that we advise early reservation for Mosquito Blue, as there are only a limited number of rooms at the hotel. July and August are often just as busy as the winter months because of the popularity of Playa del Carmen with Europeans.
