| The property is really lovely - the central courtyard design means that the street noises are kept at bay, essential for this town. The colours, the use of wood and thatch, and the upkeep were all excellent. It was very clean and the staff very helpful. We liked the breakfast. We tried a couple of other places for breakfast but this was the best. The bathrooms were good and the ac worked fine. My only complaints about the property is that the pool, for some reason, is kept very cold - probably 65F or so. I dont know why, but it certainly keeps swimming parties a minimum! Also, we had a ground floor room. We thought the balcony rooms looked nicer, where you could sit outside and still feel private. We felt a little exposed. The beach club deal with Playa Toucan is not the best - it is quite a long hike and the beach club is overcrowded. Getting a decent chair after 12 is impossible. A much nicer bet is the El Faro beach. Its a bit pricey ($10 per chair) but the pool is lovely and the staff nice. It is a lot closer and there are palm tress all along there and the lunch at the restaurant is excellent. If you simply add the $10 to the room price, it seems a good deal. We went to the spa, and although I am not a connoisseur of spas, I thought it a little overpriced and the staff, while pleasant, not terrible professional. The town is getting overrun with tourists and will soon loose it's small town appeal. However, Mosquito Blue and El Faro can give you a sense that you are far from the crowd and have found your own little place on the beach. M. Hern, Southampton, Bermuda

| Mosquito Blue had a completely different atmosphere but it was the perfect fit for us after spending four quiet days relaxing on Isla Mujeres. Mosquito Blue's location, in the thick of Playa del Carmen, kept us going for the remainder of our vacation. Everything was just a few steps outside the hotel doors: shopping, car rentals, banks, restaurants, beach and entertainment. Playa del Carmen seems to have many personalities, depending upon the time of day and it takes on a magical flavor at night when most roadways are closed to vehicular traffic and people wander cobbled streets lined with open shops and restaurants, listening to live music, and enjoying the street entertainers. In spite of its busy location, the atmosphere at Mosquito Blue was intimate, with its two swimming pools in separate courtyards, which gave direct access to the Spa Itza and the Glass Bar Restaurant. Within the confines of Mosquito Blue was a quiet, relaxing oasis where we were able to wind down, cool off in the pool, enjoy a game of pool, and catch up on the outside world via the Internet. It was great. J. Declercq, Chicago, United States
