Everything went fine. In short, we had a great time in a laid-back and friendly atmosphere, while a bit disappointed by how it looks in reality. Outstanding food in both the restaurant and the bar - very friendly staff - there is gap between rooms' pictures on the website and the reality. Again, everything went well and we really enjoyed it. Aforementioned remarks were not a big deal at all.

Room was a three.  The lighting in the bathroom was atrocious (dreadful florescent bulbs that glared) and we ended up bringing a lamp from the bedside and using it instead!!!  Also, tile in the bathroom shower was chipped and grout was mssing.  Otherwise the room was good without being "excellent,"  But the view... that really was excellent.  And we both agreed we liked the room and if we stayed there again would request the same room.   Service at the Na Balam was a 5 throughout our stay.  Both the hotel service -- the front desk and the maids -- and all the employees at the hotel restaurant were wonderful.  All seemed to go out of their way to make our every request a priority.  And they did so with good humor and a seemingly sincere desire to make our experience as pleasing as possible.  Really excellent service!   Food was also for the most part excellent.  By the end of our stay we had, in addition to a number of lunch and dinner entrees, tried all the appetizers and all the desserts on the dinner menu.  The desserts were the least successful (especially a chocolate muffin confabulation and a pineapple something or other -- really awful!!!).  But the rest was good enough not to make us sorry we ordered it or, in a couple of cases (the red snapper special and the lunch menu's fish medley tacos) were superb!!!    Quality of facilities:  See above notes with "room."  The bathroom lighting was really annoying till we got creative and remedied it ourselves.  Otherwise the room, while not luxurious, was adequate.  Pillows could have been more comfy but the beds were nice and firm.  The room was always cleaned well.   Value:  At almost three hundred a night with taxes I'd expect more in the States... but to be right on the beach as we were, and the room was quiet, and the people at the hotel were so very nice.  We'd definitely stay there again.

We really loved our stay at Na Balam and would have liked to stay longer.  Our room was a seaside room on the first floor with a nice balcony and a hammock. It was the perfect spot to relax right after our arrival and before travelling around Yucatan. However, we stayed at Na Balam 2 nights only - thus our opinion might not be considered representative.   We personally liked our room very much and our sea view was awsame. The room was spacious and alsways very clean. Still, the rooms are kept in a simple style and are not luxurious. Quality of facilities: the pool is not very large but nice. But who needs a pool when staying at a wunderful beach like "Playa Norte"?
