the guest rooms
Beautifully landscaped gardens and water features - including the four relaxing pools - surround the villas, and there appears to be far fewer than the two hundred rooms and suites.
Most rooms have a view of the gardens and usually a pool too - in our opinion these tranquil outlooks are just as desirable as the those from the ocean view category.
The Luxury rooms are spacious and all have a private balcony or terrace. With mahogany furnishings and marble bathrooms, they are attractive and comfortable, although a little lacking in character.
They are, however, admirably well equipped - all rooms have satellite TV with DVD player, two telephones (one in the bathroom and one with a dataport), controllable air-conditioning and ceiling fan, minibar stocked with soft drinks and water, coffee maker, iron and ironing board, hairdryer and alarm clock.
The bathrooms all include a hydromassage tub and a separate shower.
Complimentary wi-fi internet access is now available throughout the resort too.
We reckon they are worth the supplement purely for the two gorgeous balconies with each suite - a smaller one with a hammock opening from the living room and a very large sunning terrace upstairs. Pure indulgence!
It's possible to reserve a Duplex Suite connecting with a Luxury or an Ocean View room, and other connecting rooms are also available on request.
The Royal Hideaway also has two wheelchair accessible rooms available, both ground floor Luxury category. These rooms have wider doorways and a wider entrance to the shower and also include a bathtub.
The public areas of the hotel, including all the restaurants and the pool areas, are all wheelchair accessible too.
