the guest rooms
The exteriors of the buildings are artistically designed and feature wall murals and reliefs depicting Mayan gods and symbols from nature. Mosaic stone work on the floors and stairs capture natural themes such as tropical birds and animals.
Each building is named after a natural feature: selva (jungle), tierra (earth), sol (sun), lluvia (rain) and luna (moon). The decor and colors of the rooms are based around these themes. Master Suites are on the top floors and have a king size bed and fabulous view of the beach and ocean. Junior Suites have two doubles and are ground or second floor rooms. The two Beach Suites are ground floor rooms; their views are obstructed by a sand dune which separates the hotel from the beach proper.
The rooms are brightly decorated and furnished and maintain the natural theme with their beautiful stone floors, bamboo blinds and lamp shades and vibrant bedspreads. This also lends them a distinctly tropical look that is a world away from your average hotel room.
There's electrical lighting in all of the rooms but note that there are no electrical outlets (though there are outlets available in the restaurant and lobby). There is even wireless internet so you can stay a bit longer and tell the office that you're still hard at work!
