Villa@Merida is a beautiful hotel and the staff is charming. Our accommodations were authentically and beautifully decorated, and the bathroom had all the amenities (except a hair dryer) and lots of hot water. The grounds are lovely and very romantic. However, the hotel is not within walking distance from the lively center of town, and there is nothing in the neighborhood to entice. Luckily cabs are inexpensive.

The following comments are probably something to discuss with the hotel and not to be printed.

The only thing to mar the occasion was the missed pick-up at the airport, which is included in the rates. Even though I sent you our itinerary and my traveling companion sent an e-mail with our itinerary directly to the hotel, somehow they thought we were arriving on a different airline. We wound up stranded at the airport with no coins to make a call, and nothing open to buy a phone card, and no one at any counters. Thank heavens one of the Mexicana Airline personnel, by chance, had been delayed in leaving, so he returned to the counter and let me use their office phone to call the hotel. Our pick-up person had already gone home, so you can imagine the even longer delay, which was so unfortunate after an incredibly long day traveling.

We had also specified on the hotel questionnaire, which we forwarded to you, that we would need a late meal. Well, with the cook gone and no meal to heat up, the night clerk kindly made us some cheese sandwiches. Maybe the hotel shouldn't ask if you will need a late meal, because that sets up expectations.

I hope this helps the hotel become an even better experience for future travelers. I wish them well and hope their endeavor is a success.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Villa in Merida. The staff took care of every request we had and made us feel right at home. We especially enjoyed the personal service from the chef every night who prepared excellent meals For us. It was a very intimate setting and we would highly recommend it to anyone.

The Villa @ Merida was wonderful.  The staff could not have been more helpful and a delight.  Our flight was 4 hours late and they still accommodated us with dinner.  The food was very good.  The Villa itself was very clean and beautiful.  We have a hotel in Portland, Maine and truly appreciate the service. Everyone was very accommodating and we look forward to our return.
