| Aqualuna coming soon! WE LIKE: Small and intimate property, easy access to beach and town, pretty rooms This small artistically designed hotel is located in the very center of Playa del Carmen; just a few blocks from the beach and a block away from 5th Avenue. There are just 12 imaginatively styled guest rooms which are arranged around pretty courtyard gardens. Its white stucco buildings and terraces adorned with colourful plants are inspired by Greek architecture. Rooms feature plasma TVs, air-conditioning, ceiling fans and mini-bars. They feature artwork from the owner and face the peaceful tropical gardens Rooms from $69 US Dollars
| ||
| Basico WE LIKE: Cool design; party atmosphere; central location Basico offers unique and stylish accommodation right in the heart of Playa del Carmen. The hotel has a striking and unusual design in which the designer has blended the motifs of traditional Mexican culture with the significant and far-reaching influence that the discovery of oil has had on the country. As a result the hotel features many unusual combinations of traditional and industrial materials including cotton, wood, concrete and rubber. The design and simplistic decor of the rooms is basic to the point of minimalism, yet they still manage to ooze style, and feature modern conveniences like satellite TV, DVD player and a cordless telephone. Rooms from $125 US Dollars
| ||
| Deseo WE LIKE: Luxurious, stylish and hip; great location for the nightlife Deseo is completely different from anything else in Playa del Carmen, and yet doesn't feel out of place. It oozes style and glamour, and has the knack of making its clients feel a part of that. Deseo manages to achieve a great sense of luxury, while at the same time giving you the feel of being at a great beach side chill-out spot. | Mosquito Blue Hotel & Spa WE LIKE: Good central location; stylish rooms and pool It's often difficult to recommend hotels in beach resorts because so few have any degree of character. Mosquito Blue is different: we love the luxuriously stylish rooms, fabulous pool and also the location. Restricting the clientele to over 16s only is a wise move in our opinion - the grounds aren't large but with this provision there is plenty of space, privacy and tranquility for everyone. Although not directly on the beach, the location is still hard to beat. Access to the many shops, bars and restaurants is easy - just walk from the hotel up the busy and well lit Avenida 5 - yet the beach is only a five minute walk away. Rooms from $186 US Dollars
| ||
| Playa Maya WE LIKE: Central location; good value; great service and hospitality Playa Maya offers a perfect combination of a central location, well equipped and charming rooms and affordable rates. It's only a small property, but clever use of the space has resulted in some unique and very appealing features. As the only access to the hotel is via the beach, it's surprisingly quiet - even the swimming pool is elevated from the beach level and is very private. We like the variety in the rooms and suites available here - from the romantic Deluxe rooms with prime ocean-view balconies or large terraces with hammocks, to the spacious family suites that can accommodate up to 8 people in two connecting bedrooms. The biggest selling point though is the wonderful hospitality and excellent management. Rooms from $100 US Dollars

| |

It's also just one block from the finest stretch of beach in Playa del Carmen, where you'll find the most popular beach clubs (hotel guests enjoy complimentary access to one of these clubs, so they can use the sun loungers and beach towels there and of course enjoy bar service by the ocean).
