Playa del Carmen Hotels

Basico offers unique and stylish accommodation right in the heart of Playa del Carmen. The hotel has a striking and unusual design in which the designer has blended the motifs of traditional Mexican culture with the significant and far-reaching influence that the discovery of oil has had on the country. As a result the hotel features many unusual combinations of traditional and industrial materials including cotton, wood, concrete and rubber.

The design and simplistic decor of the rooms is basic to the point of minimalism, yet they still manage to ooze style, and feature modern conveniences like satellite TV, DVD player and a cordless telephone.

Mosquito Beach has just recently opened and continues the style and originality started by sister hotel Mosquito Blue.  There are just 33 rooms which are imaginatively designed and decorated.  All rooms have plasma TVs, air-conditioning, mini bar, safety deposit boxes and hairdryers.  The hotel is located right on the beach and has a stylish beach club with distinctive black sun beds and deck chairs.  There is also a bar and restaurant.  Guests can also use the facilities at Mosquito Blue including the spa and restaurant.  It is very centrally located and  great for those looking to make the most of Playa's eclectic night scene.

Playa Maya offers a perfect combination of a central location, well equipped and charming rooms and affordable rates. It's only a small property, but clever use of the space has resulted in some unique and very appealing features. As the only access to the hotel is via the beach, it's surprisingly quiet - even the swimming pool is elevated from the beach level and is very private.

We like the variety in the rooms and suites available here - from the romantic Deluxe rooms with prime ocean-view balconies or large terraces with hammocks, to the spacious family suites that can accommodate up to 8 people in two connecting bedrooms. The biggest selling point though is the wonderful hospitality and excellent management.
