Planning a wedding in Mexico? Here you'll find information on our favorite properties for a wonderfully memorable and carefree event. We'll show you which properties are more suited to an intimate celebration for two, or which would work best for a lavish, formal event for 100 people or more. We've also indicated which properties work well for a "buyout". This means that you reserve all the guest rooms so that your group has exclusive use of the entire property. This way you are guaranteed lots of privacy and there are fewer restrictions on music levels, ceremony location etc. Our recommended properties have from four rooms upwards, so you don't need a huge guest list to organize a buyout.
You'll also need to think about what type of ceremony you'd prefer. In Mexico, only the civil ceremony is legally binding. This is performed by a judge and the documentation required can be onerous, often including legalized birth certificates, blood tests and more. The requirements vary from one state, city or even property to another (see each hotel's entry for more information). Often couples decide to have a simple legal ceremony in their home country before or after their visit to Mexico, and just a symbolic ceremony at the hotel. In this case very little paperwork is required. At many properties the symbolic weddings are incredibly moving and memorable, resulting in a ceremony that is totally unique to you. Religious weddings are possible at many locations, but bear in mind that you'll need a civil ceremony too to make the marriage legally binding.
