An Example Itinerary
- Pick up from your hotel in a private vehicle
- 1-hour drive past Mayan villages to Coba
- Fully guided tour of Coba ruins with a local Mayan guide. Coba was one of the largest and most important cities of the Classic Mayan Period, before Chichen Itza came to power. Unlike Chichen Itza, much of the site is still engulfed by the jungle, giving a real sense of exploration as you discover the various temples and other buildings. Coba is also the site of the largest Mayan pyramid in the Yucatan, which you can still climb to the top of for spectacular views across the jungle.
- Cool off after your tour of the ruins with a swim in spectacular nearby cenotes. Cenotes are underground freshwater sinkholes, unique to the Yucatan Peninsula. And perfect for swimming, snorkeling or even scuba diving.
- Enjoy lunch in a nearby restaurant, with the opportunity to enjoy traditional local dishes such as Cochinita Pibil, Poc Chuc and Sopa de Lima.
