In a nutshell:
Boutique hotel with one of the best restaurants in town. Romantic rooms overlooking the courtyard pool, suites with hot tub and hammock.  Easy strolling distance from many art galleries, wine bars and boutiques.  Family owned and managed, beaches a short distance away.

Casa Natalia is a chic and exceptionally stylish small hotel. It has a wonderful location just a few steps from the excellent restaurants, art galleries and chic wine bars of San Jose del Cabo.  The town retains much of its Mexican charm and has lots of character and some lovely Spanish Colonial architecture. It’s much less developed than its neighbor, Cabo San Lucas.

Casa Natalia’s high walled courtyard offers a cool and peaceful haven from the hustle and bustle of the little town. The courtyard is the focal point of the hotel and it was the desire of the architect to capture the four elements of earth, wind, fire and water in its design. This has been achieved through a strong mix of colors, water falls, the breezes rustling through the palm fronds and the flames from the braziers.

Each of the guest rooms, although almost identical in layout and features, has been individually and imaginatively designed.  All of the rooms at Casa Natalia are decorated in bright and vibrant colors with beautiful artistic touches and features. We particularly like the mix of indoor and outdoor living space that offers both privacy and great views.

San Jose del Cabo is fast gaining recognition for the excellence of its restaurants and the hotel’s own Mi Cocinaonly reinforces this.  The restaurant serves exceptional and innovative dishes in a magical setting and is acknowledged as one of the finest restaurants in the region.

Although the hotel is not directly on the beach, we feel that its quality and style more than compensates for this.  We often prefer to stay here in town so that we can stroll to different restaurants in the evening and drive to the beach in the daytime (after all, very few hotels in Los Cabos have direct access to a swimming beach). A whole range of excursions and activities, including golf, horseback riding and jeep safaris are also available.

Every detail at Casa Natalia has been carefully considered, from its exquisite design to the quality of its furnishings, even down to the wonderful toiletries provided in the bathrooms.  This, combined with the impeccable service it offers and the very convenient location, sets it apart and makes it one of the most appealing hotels in Southern Baja.

Rooms

The beautifully stylish rooms and suites are set around the hotel’s quiet courtyard. All enjoy views of the pool and tropical gardens with its cascading waterfalls and tall palms.  The rooms are located in low rise buildings of light stone and wood that are perfectly in keeping with the natural theme which runs throughout the hotel. The colors capture the essence of Baja California, with stone and cream colors representing the desert landscapes and edged with the blue of the ocean and lush palms.

Casa Natalia departs from many general hotel traditions and this ensures that it feels more like a home than a hotel to its guests. Instead of just an anonymous number, each guest room has its own unique name that encapsulates the theme and character of the room.  That there are just two rooms sharing a floor in each of the individual blocks adds to the feeling of privacy and quiet.

Walk through your door on to a canopied terrace with table, chairs and a hammock. It’s the perfect place to relax and enjoy the tranquility and calm of your surroundings.  The rooms are imaginatively and tastefully decorated using vivid Mexican colors and artwork. Each room has a king-size bed and sitting area with glass doors that lead on to a terrace. Together these create a good mix of indoor and outdoor private space.  The attention to detail is simply amazing – from the wonderful Egyptian cotton linens on the bed to the luxurious herbal toiletries and Talavera pottery featured in the bathrooms.

The Deluxe and Deluxe Superior rooms are the same size and both types are equally beautifully furnished. However, the Deluxe Superior rooms have a few additional amentities that discerning guests will appreciate (bathrobes, complimentary bottled water) and the rates for these rooms also include the Casa Natalia breakfast.

All rooms are equipped with wireless internet access, and a DVD player with the television, together with thoughtful touches such as current magazines and local information.  Each room has a different theme – for example, Plata features silver accessories, including delicate lanterns and a wonderful ornate silver cheval mirror.  The room features vibrant colors and enchanting details. Shuttered and meshed windows above the bed mean that you can enjoy evening breezes without worrying about bugs. The tiled floors are cool and stylish, the living area is bright and airy with doors opening on to the terrace, and the sofa and easy chair provide a very comfortable lounging area within the room. As with all deluxe rooms you’ll also find a cable television, writing desk and a coffee table.

Each guest room has its own private terrace with table and chairs and even a hammock for those wanting to take a snooze in the shade. The terrace overlooks the courtyard and is shaded by a bamboo canopied roof. From the terrace there are double sliding window doors which give access to your room.

Bathrooms are stylish with cool green and blue color schemes. They feature a step-down marble shower with frosted glass door and marble vanity.  The vanity has soap dish, tissue holder and other items of Talavera pottery, along with a great selection of toiletries. Each bathroom also has a hairdryer and fine cotton bathrobe.  Open built in storage and shelving in light wood along one wall of the bathroom provides plenty of hanging and storage space.

Chose one of the two spa suites for a little added luxury. These rooms have the same layout as the Deluxe Rooms but have more amenities in the bathrooms, including a make-up mirror and longer length bathrobes.  The TV armoire also houses books on Mexican artists and on Villeroy and Boch, a favorite interior design company of the hotel.

The rooftop terraces of the spa suites offer the ultimate luxury with an outdoor Jacuzzi and comfy sun beds. From here you can enjoy scenic views over the courtyard and nearby nature preserve.

The terraces have both shaded and sunny areas with hammocks hanging in the shaded areas (a great place to laze away the day reading!), along with a table and chairs for private dining. The terrace also make a perfect setting to enjoy one of the many spa treatments available.

restaurant

Mi Cocina, Casa Natalia’s restaurant, provides both al fresco dining in the impressive courtyard. As elsewhere throughout the hotel the attention to detail is always evident.  Cutlery, silverware and glasses are all from Villeroy and Boch, while the fine table linens and elegant tall back chairs complete the scene.  The courtyard makes a wonderfully romantic setting. Enjoy a candlelit meal here bathed in the orange glow from the braziers and lulled by the soft, gentle sounds of the waterfalls.

What really makes the restaurant stand out for us though is the superlative food served here. The menu combines Mexican and European dishes with modern imaginative flair.  Dishes are all prepared from the freshest of ingredients and include seafood, pastas and grilled meat; all complimented by an excellent wine list.

By day the restaurant is very different, but equally appealing. The sounds of the water flowing and lush colors of the tropical flower and shrubs give a feeling of coolness, and the tall palms offer shade from the sun. As in the evening, the food, service and attention to detail are all impeccable.

pool

A small stream flows from the top level of the courtyard through the restaurant and down through the colorful gardens of the subsequent levels via a series of cascading waterfalls. It flows into the pool on the third level and then continues on down.  The blueness and coolness of the pool is intensified by the terracotta and cream colors of the courtyard that surround it.

Edged with comfortable sun loungers, parasols and baskets of white fluffy towels, the pool provides a refreshing and peaceful retreat.  Here you can listen to the gentle trickle of the water and the rustle of the breezes through the palms while enjoying special pool-side meals and cocktails.
