In a nutshell:
Central location on Zihuatanejo’s Madera beach, close to the downtown area. Most rooms have great views, but beware that there are lots of steps around the property – it is not recommended for those with limited mobility. Family suites and Villa Don Agustin are great for kids and groups.

Aura del Mar is a charming small hotel with an excellent location. It’s situated right on Madera beach, just a short walk from Zihuatanejo’s downtown area.

Aura del Mar is perfect for families and offers an excellent range of accommodation with plenty of space and good facilities. Villa Don Agustin in particular would make a great choice for larger families or even small groups.

The hotel is great for couples too – the Master Suites are a perfect choice for a romantic getaway.

The hotel is built down a steep hill and as a result there are several flights of stairs separating the rooms and hotel facilities; as there is no elevator it wouldn’t be a good choice for elderly people or anyone with mobility problems.

There is plenty to keep both children and adults amused. The hotel has a games room with table tennis and board games, a large swimming pool with a slide and it is just a short climb down to Madera beach.

Rooms

The hotel is a charming mix of sloping red tiled roofs, stucco walls and lop-sided wooden balconies that give it the appearance of a quaint Mediterranean hillside village. Stairs and walkways are adorned with beautiful tropical flowers and plants and in the shady corridors, you’ll notice alcoves decorated with local artwork.
The rooms are arranged through several different levels and those on the elevated cliff-side positions enjoy fabulous views of the beach and ocean.

There is a good range of accommodations to suit both couples and families. All of the rooms are equipped with air conditioning, satellite TV and refrigerators and the suites have generous balconies facing the ocean with sun beds. Some of the suites even feature outdoor Jacuzzis. The Bahia and Zihua Suites have the added advantage of kitchenettes while suite Noyoltzi and Villa Don Agustin both have fully-equipped kitchens, sitting and dining areas which makes them a great choice for families.

Note though that the layout of the hotel does mean that there are a lot of steps to climb – the lobby, pool and beach are all separated by several flights of stairs and there is no elevator, so it would not make a good choice for those with impaired movement.

beach

Madera beach is a lovely little bay that’s protected by rocks on either side and fringed with palm trees. It isn’t a huge beach but it’s certainly long enough for a gentle little stroll by the water’s edge

The water here is very calm and shelves very gently so it’s perfect for children and great for swimming.  There are a few beach bars close by too . Guests can relax on the edge of the beach where the hotel provides comfortable sun loungers arranged under shady palapas.

pool

The pretty swimming pool has a large sun terrace with tables, chairs, comfortable sun lounges and parasols for shade.  Drinks and snacks are served here, so its easy to while away the day with a book and a gentle swim to cool off.
